Sketching at the Shipyard

The former Lovric Sea-Craft marina (now Stabbert Marine & Industrial) is always one of our most fascinating spots to sketch.  In 1965, the sandy beach along the shore became Lovric's marina and the property even  contains some buildings built more than 100 years ago before their marina.  Tucked up against the shore, it's flanked by a large wooden ship breakwater called La Merced visible in some of the photos and sketches below.

Starting in the early 1960s, the Lovric family lived at the house at the top of the hill overlooking the shore as the family transformed it into the marina it became - part industrial and part recreational - with a space for work on boats and docks where tenants can keep their boats tied up.

After almost 60 years in business the marina and boatyard was sold to Stabbert Marine & Industrial whose other shipyard is in Seattle.

Celebrating One of Our Own Under the Rainbow Bridge

Pioneer Park in La Conner - under the beautiful Rainbow Bridge - was the perfect spot to sketch today.  But more importantly, it was the perfect spot to mark our beloved Frank's 94th birthday!  Not only a splendid sketcher, Frank is also known to have a bit of a sweet tooth, so we just had to add birthday cupcakes to the occasion today.  Happy Birthday Frank and on to 95!

Surrounded by Flowers at Azusa Garden Center

It's always such a treat to sketch at Azusa Garden Centre and especially in mid-Summer when everything is in bloom.  We parked ourselves throughout the nursery among the flowers and soaked up all the colors and scents while we sketched.

Sketching the Samish Flats

Today we scattered and sketched along Bisquet Ridge Lane in Bow off Farm to Market Road.  It was a lovely afternoon sketching the greens and blues across the Samish Flats to Samish Bay.

Washington Park Views

It was all about the trees and water views when we gathered today at Washington Park.  We are so lucky to have amazing sketching spots, but Washington Park is really special as you can see!

Sketching Joe's Sculptures

It was a gorgeous afternoon sketching life-size driftwood sculptures back at Joe Treat's in Bow.  It's one of our most unique (and welcoming) sketching spots!

Sketching Among the Wildflowers at Anchor Cove

Today we sat in a wildflower field next to the Anchor Cove Marina and sketched.  Some of us chose water views, others boats, and others flowers.  What an interesting spot to sketch on this overcast Summer day.
