Anacortes Public Library
Sketched in the Children's Room. Paper leprechauns adorned the walls and colorful books were stacked on the shelves. Being here took me back to days of teaching.

Red Door Antiques
Just a shelf of tins from Red Door Antiques. I realized that the Shield Date tin was from where I had lunch with Tim and Nancy in Palm Springs last month. Shield Dates Garden was built in 1924 when the Shields came to the California desert. Mr. Shield, a pioneer in the date business, started out by giving "date culture" lectures in the garden. Today there is a famous restaurant and gift shop. The dates are still grown without chemicals or fertilizers. Check out this place if you are ever in Palm Springs!

Sketching With the Chickens
Nancy, Mary, Joyce, Janice, and Katie stayed warm in the greenhouse with lovely smells of Meyer lemon plants and two Rhode Island Red chickens keeping them company.
